Mabel's Lobster Claw

Unbelievable experience. Happiest wait staff we've ever seen (all working, smiling, laughing the whole time). The brussel sprouts and lobster were amazing. Blueberry pie was incredible. Will return without a doubt.

Best fried Halibut I had in Maine. My wife liked the Lobster Roll. It came highly touted, but she said the Lobster meat was the only special thing. Cool little place with plenty of options for seafood. I especially liked the pictures and historical info on the walls. Cute bathroom too. Friendly, attentive staff with the perfect Maine accent.

Cute building, nice atmosphere, great tasting food, and accommodating wait staff. What more could you ask for? One note, they have street parking and the parking lot directly beside the building is designated for the hotel next door.

Haven't been here in a couple years, but since my sister has never been, we stopped in for lunch.It appears there have been some renovations done since the last time I was here, because the restaurant seemed brighter inside.What hasn't changed is the awesome food that Mabel's provides. Both my sister and I had the fish and chips. Honestly, this could have been a dinner size portion. The fish was lightly battered and served with fries and coleslaw (which was yummy). I'm not a fan of tartar sauce, but Mabel's appears to be homemade and is tasty.The desserts do not disappoint either. I don't normally have dessert at lunchtime, but can you really say no to peanut butter ice cream pie?Mabel's is a real treat.

I mean, phenomenal. So good. Lobster was amazing, fish and chips was so tender, clam chowder was the best we’ve literally ever had, the mushroom starter is a must have, and peanut butter pie was the perfect ending. This meal was seriously perfect. And the waitress was so nice and helpful. We will definitely be back when we come to Maine.

You have to make reservation before going. My hotel where I was staying suggested this restaurant. When I went there it was packed. The next day I made a reservation for later that evening. I sat outside. The place is small, but cozy. Food is excellent. I had the stuffed lobster with shrimp and scallops. It was excellent!

Amazing place with super friendly stay and out of this world food

The last day we spent in Kennebuckport a couple October's ago, we decided to take the Food Channel's recommendation and dine at Mabel's Lobster Claw and were glad we did. Doris had their excellent New England Clam Chowder followed by their baked scallops dish while I chose to start with a Caesar's Salad followed by linguine with clams, mussels and shrimp. Including drinks and tip, our total bill came to $ 100 and couldn't have been more pleased. Our waitress was pleasant and attentive, the atmosphere friendly. Wonderful dining experience.

Off season during the beginning of May. Had salmon, broccoli and a baked potato. So good. Even the coffee was delicious!

Best dinner ever! (Mabel's Lobster Claw and this lobster dinner!!)want to see it?... okay here it is (see photo). Are ya drooling? You should be. It's lobster, scallops and shrimp underneath melted provolone and served with grilled peppers. The lobster was cooked perfectly, service was phenomenal and if you have never been there, it's time. And when you're done and need to work off your amazing dinner, walking along the shore of checking out the harbor entrance to Kennebunkport will be equally as beautiful as the dinner on your plate!

Perfect balance. Felt like a Gordon Ramsay makeover New England style! I have been eating these classic North East dishes my whole life. Mabel's did them justice. It was Chef Ramsay's play book: Short and clear menu. Low-key smart and modern decor. Food with clean flavors. Of the 2 dishes I tried, all of the seafood was cooked to perfection. The stuffing was great. We left pleasantly surprised.

This place came highly recommended and we we're not disappointed. There was an ample choice of lobsters cooked in a variety of ways. Our server noticed I wasn't de-shelling the Maine steamers properly and demonstrated how to remove the meat and leave the sandy bits. We enjoyed our stop there on the way North, and look forward to another opportunity to savor the food again.

Amazing food. Very family feeling atmosphere. Sat at the bar because I didn't make reservations. Bartender was fantastic with service and help on how to eat steamed clams. Will definitely be back.

The ambiance is strange especially when you eat outside the cubby hole restaurant. Cars drive within a few feet from the table and there is no room to sit comfortably. Having said this the food was excellent and the service by the waitstaff was very friendly and knowledgeable. The lobster roll as well as the breaded haddock were tasty and very nicely presented. If you don't mind small crowded restaurants then this is a great restaurant.

Delicious from start to finish. Lobster roll with warm butter was awesome, and the clam chowder was the best we had. The pie was a prefect finish to what was probably the best meal we had on our trip.

The BEST hot lobster roll in town! Hands down. Amazing menu otherwise too! Very expansive. And awesome local beer selection. Would absolutely recommend this place to anyone

We had a group of eight, we made a reservation and our table was waiting when we arrived. Our server, Sabrina was great! We are mostly lobstah rookies and she improved our skills quickly. The lobster was fantastic and the blueberry pie was amazing! We won't forget this experience for a long time!

There was a wait when we got here and we were having a bit of a time crunch, so we ordered at the outside window and sat al fresco. The menu is a bit pricey, but the food was well worth it. I had a lobster roll and it wasn't fancy, but the meat was tender with a mild smoky grilled flavor. Delicious! And unique to any other lobster I've ever had. We topped off our meal with blueberry pie that was out of this world. If you only stop one place on your way through Kennebunkport, this should be the place.

Native New Englander and this is by far some of the best lobster I've ever had. It comes in straight off ther boat to the distributor nextdoor. The freshness cannot be beat. If you've never had lobster straight off the boat, this is a great spot to experience it. The sweetness has no rival....

Delicious stuffed lobster, awesome fish&chip and a cool little place! We didn't get a chance to take photos of the food we ordered because we destroyed them too fast. Only got time to take photos of the restaurant after we were full. Lol

Small restaurant with limited (almost none) parking. Once you overcome those challenges, the stuffed baked lobster is really good! The lobster mac and cheese is probably too cheesy for most normal people. They also have a small bar area and outside seating along the main road.

Totally wish I had taken a photo of my food before it was completely demolished SORRY. On a birthday tour with the hubby (we live in California) this food was AMAZING!!! We started with the lobster biscuits and calamari. Lobster biscuits were our absolute favorite of night, calamari was ok. It was prepared perfectly, just not much flavor. Then we ordered the lobster with the 6 shrimp (forgot the name of it) and it was also finger licking good!!!Next time we are in Maine, we will most certainly stop by again!!!Food was AMAZING and so was the service. Just amazing all around!

It is such a cute little restaurant! The food is really great, I had the fried shrimps and my husband tried the baked stuffed lobster. The staff is just awesome, super nice and quick. We really had a fantastic evening!

Stuffed lobster, shrimp, scallops with Newburgh sauce and cheese! Good thing birthdays only come once a year. Baked potato was huge, imagine softball size, corn on the cob was more like 1/2 an ear. Seating tight so we found people sitting next to us commenting on dinner and order. Parking a challenge with only a few on street spots. Strongly encourage making reservations.

I made a trip all the way from Florida to visit this restaurant and was not disappointed! The restaurant had an old-time feel and the pictures of the Bushes inside made it seem like a hidden treasure. The food was cooked to perfection and we were given fresh blueberry bread to bring with us. I cannot wait to come back and would absolutely recommend this to anyone visiting.

Saw this place on Food Paradise and my husband had to stop. Right across from the water in Kennebunkport. Had the famous lobster Savannah, a 2lb lobster split in 2, filled with shrimp, scallops, mushrooms, cream sauce and cheese. Seriously doesn't get better than that. Also had clam chowder, nice and thick with chunks, lobster mac n cheese which was creamy heaven, and I had a lobster roll. All heavenly. Definitely recommend stopping here. We got here at 11:30 when it opened, got a good spot outside. By 12noon, outdoor seating was a wait.

The best lobster roll I’ve ever had.

We went for lunch and had the crab salad sandwich and Haddock sandwich . Both very delicious. Cozy and very busy. Outdoor seating on the main road away from the busy part of the shopping areas. Young serves did their best.

YOU MUST EAT HERE!!!! We loved the food so much the first night we came back the second!!! Everything was awesome both nights!!!! The salad was amazing also! The dessert choices could be a little better but there IS an ice cream shop attached to the building.

I heard this place recently changed hands and renovated. If that's the case, it reminds me of Duryea's in Montauk - never been to either in their former state, but they're both damn good the way they are now, and I don't have any nostalgia for the way they were to detract from the way they are now (although, looking at photos of the way it used to be, I do wish they hadn't changed the look - sometimes it's nice to let things continue to be).Had the lobster Milanese, roasted brussel sprouts, and blueberry pie. It was all fantastic and everything on the plate, from the lobster to the broccoli to the baked potato, was perfectly cooked.

Mabels was a fun place to visit and the food was excellent. BUT, super expensive; $50 for a seafood dish, $32 for 1.5lb lobster. Locally, prices in other equally nice restaurants are substantially less and just as tasty. I think because George & Barbara Bush ate there a number of times, they are riding that notoriety.

Very quaint house, great service and superior food. I would recommend this place to anyone coming to this area.... make reservations its guaranteed a table!!

Great food, great service, great atmosphere. Stopped here on a whim and sat at the bar with my wife one evening for dinner and had a wonderful experience. All the staff was friendly and the food was some of the best we had while in Kennebunkport.

The reviews are not wrong. The Lobster was fresh and tasty.

We were fortunate to be in Maine on a gorgeous weekend and came by this place and decided to try it and sit outside. To start, we had the New England Clam Chowder and it was amazing! Honestly can say best I have ever had. It had such a nice flavor and not too heavy. For dinner, I had the Lobster Mac & Cheese and my boyfriend had the Lobster Milanese which had shrimp around it. Both were super delicious!! I definitely recommend this place! Wish we didn't live so far from it!
